I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Even as a child it was my dream to do hair and makeup. Anything beauty related was my passion and it was synonymous with who I was. Even in my youth, I quickly became the go-to person to book for all hair and makeup needs for all the school events and functions.
While still in high school, I received an internship at the renowned Marilyn Miglin Institute on Oak Street in Chicago where I trained/worked for 6 years and was eventually hired as a full time makeup artist. Marilyn Miglin always inspired me and propelled my makeup career all over the city! I’ll always remember Marilyn saying “The future of our industry is being able to do hair and makeup together”. I went on to receive my cosmetology license from Pivot Point International in Chicago and began working at Chateau Salon. This is where I truly honed my haircut and color skills.
I continued to work in Chicago for the next 8 years and refined my skills as a hair and makeup artist. During this time, I also freelanced for Cover Girl and L’Oréal Professional.
Looking to further my career, I moved to Atlanta where I joined William David Salon and later transitioned to Steve Hightower Salon. I built my clientele and also offered makeup lessons for a balanced approach to both crafts. Wanting more, I joined MAC cosmetics for 5 1/2 years where I was a certified makeup artist and learned so much more about the beauty industry! During that same time I was also doing hair in my personal salon with a booming clientele.
My career then took a turn into media with an opportunity to join the CNN Hair & Makeup team. After being in media for a few years, I was accepted into the Union IATSE LOCAL 798 and I began working on television and film sets. I chose to be represented in the union as a makeup artist, as I was still able to do hair on commercials and at CNN. My entire life I’ve always had to find a balance between hair and makeup because I’m extremely passionate about both! Currently I’m working all over the country in my industry. I pride myself on bringing love and passion to my work with an attention to detail and a flare for the unique. I feel like the luckiest person on the planet because I’m truly living my dreams!
